spective on the bond program,”
said Dino De Concini, Execu-
tive Director of Public Debt’s

of savings. The theme of this
year’s contest is “U.S. Savings

sponsor of the event, James R.
Leva, Chairman, President, and

ties corporation, New Jersey,
“The poster contest is a won-
derful way to begin teaching

Confusion of Multiple
Food Guides
Calorie Counting? Food
pyramid? Exchanges? Fat-gram
counting?
Anyone who’s interested in
healthy eating knows that
there’s a lot of information
available. The trick is choosing
the right system.
“Every method has some
good features to recommend it,”
said Betty Dodson, a repre-
sentative of TOPS (Take Off
Pounds Sensibly). “You have
to find one that works in your
particular situation.”
To evaluate any food-choice
method, consider:
• Is it recommended by a
reliable source, such as a gov-
ernment health agency?
• Does it encompass a variety
of foods? Health experts tell us
that a varied diet ensures better
nutrient intake and prevents
boredom.
• Is it easy to understand and
follow? Know your personal
preferences and time limita-
tions.
“Members of TOPS have an
advantage,” Betty said. “A lot
of reliable nutrition informa-
tion is available to us through
our international organization.
And TOPS has always closely
followed medically sound
guidelines.”
TOPS members learn about
nutrition through TOPS pub-
lications and through chapter
meetings, where speakers in-
clude experts like nutritionists
and medical personnel.
To learn about TOPS chap-
ters in your area, call Betty
Dodson at 598-3068 or toll-free
at 1-800-932-8677.
