Well, here it is five thirty in
the morning, trying to write an
article for the paper. It won't be
like it was last Monday when I
went and told the
administration that I didn't have
an article for the paper this
week. It was easy to come up
with an excuse for everything
that we want. I don't exactly
remember why I didn't write
something for we have some-
thing going on all the time at
the nursing home. It may have
been along this line, I didn't
have time, nothing to write or
just forgot. The last is
probably the right one because
I am so forgetful lately.
We have two new residents,
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Lynch
from Emory. We hope they
have a welcome stay with us.
We will do everything we can
to make them happy. Family
and friends out there come by
and visit with them or drop
them a card at the nursing
home. They are very nice
people to talk with.
Our prayers and sympathy
goes to the Finis Harrell
family. He will be missed
around the nursing home. He

and I were planning to raise
some gourds this year. I was
planting the seeds and he was
going to show me how to
make birdhouses out of them.
Friday was a big day at the
home. We made homemade ice
cream. Everyone had their tales
about when they used to make
it for their kids. We used
electric freezers, but they talked
about the old hand-crank one
where someone had to sit on it
and wait for it to freeze.
Christine White stated "My
brother always made me sit on
top of it." I nave one of those
freezers,maybe next time I will
bring it and let them take a
turn cranking it and sitting on
top of it. When everyone heard
we were making ice cream and
the freezers beginning to turn
the room began to fill up with
the residents. We made vanilla
and banana. Everyone enjoyed
it very much. If any one nas a
good diet ice cream recipe (not
BlueBell) please send it to me.
The dance on the first Thurs-
day with Jody Ely and his band
was very good. Everyone
always has a good time at this
time. The residents enjoy all of
the people who come in for
this and visit with them.
We have planned activities
everyday for the residents that
want to join in. We are always
trying to improve the activity
programs so each one has a
variety of things to choose
from each day. Everyone
doesn't participate in all of
them but some in each one.
Some days we may get off
schedule but someone always
reminds me we didn't get to a
certain activity. We have a lot
of fun at the nursing home not
only with residents but with
the staff. Just last Wednesday
we celebrated a big birthday for
our administrator Annice
Horton. A note was put with
our pay check saying,"Every-
one wear black Wednesday."
The staff was prepared for her.
When she drove up, she found
someone showing her where to
park and a sign that read
''anyone 50 today park here.
The staff met her at the car
with a wheelchair and took her
to her room that they had
prepared for her. She was ready
to go to work very soon, but
still had a surprise when she
opened her office with black
balloons and decorations in it.
While she was getting used to
the black decorations she was
delivered a dozen black roses.
We had ‘a cookout of ham-
