earned a position on the Texas state/provincial National Junior High rodeo
team and will be traveling with fellow teammates to Gallup, N.M., June 23-
29 to compete at the ninth annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo
(NJHFR) in the boys goat tying competition.
Edgewood Varsity Cheerleaders
To Host Annual Cheer Camp
EDGEWOOD—The
Edgewood Varsity
Cheerleaders will once
again be hosting the an-
nual Edgewood Little
Girls Cheer Camp!
Camp dates are July 1
through July 3, Monday
thru Wednesday, 12:30
to 3:30. Cost includes a
t-shirt and all camp ac-
tivities.
Campers will
learn age appropriate
cheers, chants, dances,
motions, jumps, and
stunts; will participate
in Fun Day activities;
make crafts; and get to
spend time friends and
create fun memories!
This year’s Fun Day
theme is Hawaiian.
Campers are encour-
aged to wear themed
clothing and/or accesso-
ries for Fun Day on
Tuesday, July 2.
Campers are also in-
vited to participate with
the Varsity Cheerleaders
at the first home game
of the Bulldog season,
which is always a
highly anticipated
event.

hours to accommodate
people who work out-
side of Van Zandt
County. We will con-
tinue to be open from
9am-5pm on Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Friday.
On Thursdays we will
be open from 11am-
7pm. We will be testing
these new hours during
these two months to see
if it something that
works better for the
community. Please help
us share the word so we
can let people know that
we will be here later on

tification. A guardian
must sign for children

The AARP Chapter
1313 of Van Zandt
County met on
Tuesday May 28 at the
Edgewood Civic Cen-
ter.
The meeting was
called to order by the
president. They said the
pledge to the flags and
sang God Bless
America led by Loetta
Nerran Semmitt.
The visitors were
recognized. They were
given an update report
on absentee members.
Corrections were
made and then ap-
proved. June’s meeting
will be the quarterly
luncheon,and July they
will have a shower for
H.O.P.E. August they
will bring children’s
books for the Ben
Wheeler library.
Announcements were
made and committee
reports given, along
with the treasures and
membership reports.
The tour director re-
ported that 28 went to
Choctaw and four won
$100. Twelve are
signed up to go on The
Great Locomotive
Chase July 31-August
7, and 24 are signed up
to go to Fall Foliage
tour in Arkansas, Octo-
ber 28-3 L
Dorthy Thornton in-
troduced special guest
speaker Tim West from
Roseland Plantation,
who gave the history
of the place.

the civic center in

on Sunday, June 23, from 2-4 p.m. at the First
Baptist Church of Edgewood. Friends and fam-

Church Homecoming
Set For June 9
Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Edgewood
will host homecoming services on Sunday,
June 9.
Sunday School is 9:20 a.m. and worship is
at 10:30 a.m.
Brother Pokey Goodson will be the guest
speaker. Fellowship, lunch, and music will fol-
low the services. The Small Cemetery meet-
ing will be at 2 p.m.
